Kirtan: short repeated stanzas played in call-and-response fashion that build in tempo.
Arati: traditional songs of devotion honouring a particular aspect of the divine.

Pakhawaj
Shanti Mandir has a strong tradition of playing pakhawaj, an ancient instrument which was once common throughout north India but is seen less since tabla has become universally popular.
The style taught at Shanti Mandir by Deepak Tiwari is in the Parampara tradition.
Tabla
Tabla is the most commonly played drum in India and is popular all around the world.
At Shanti Mandir tabla is taught in the Ajarada Style by tabla master Nikhil Bhavsar. The tabla video demonstrations are performed by Sandeep Bijalwan.
Harmonium
The harmonium plays a vital role in every chant at Shanti Mandir, leading the melody, providing a drone element to the music and performing accompaniment to the vocals.
